To get the most from this website and to be able to use all the features provided we recommend using an up to date Internet Browser: e.g. the most recent version of Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer or Google Chrome.

Inventory

The inventory page contains a summary list of all works. The full list may sometimes include a number of works, so a search filter and artist list has been provided to help you locate specific artists, subjects, dates or places. Try the search box provided using some of the following examples:

‘Still life’ – to find paintings of a particular type or subject

‘Brussels’ – to find artists who are listed as working, born or deceased in a particular place

‘1625’ – to find artists by dates of birth/death – use 3 digits for the decade, e.g. 162’

‘Pieter’ – to find artists by any part of their name

Detail page view

Cicking on an artist name or image from the Selected Works page will take you to the detailed view. It includes a high-resolution image and supporting texts. Provided your browser has the Adobe Flash plug-in, you will be able to zoom and pan the image to high detail.

Zoom View

If you do not have an up to date version of Adobe Flash, please go online and download it from this link. To activate zoom view, simply click the image on the detail page. There are buttons below the image to zoom, pan and go full screen.

Keys can also be used to zoom for various functions. They are as follows:

CURSOR KEYS – to pan the image up, down, left and right

SHIFT – to zoom in

CTRL – to zoom out

ESC – to reset the image or cancel full screen mode.
